Detail of plaster panel, depicting the stain of ancient human remains made physical.
One of a series of wall based and free standing sculptures in white plaster, inspired by research into the archaeological record of human identity and how they are found and represented in the physical record. Plaster is a metaphor for the crystallisation and seemingly undisputable facts deduced from physical historical records.
A two section work: a plaster carved panel, bolted to a rust proofed and blacked angle iron frame. The frame is empty, yet the carved panel appears to have the potential to have been placed either further up or down the frame. The panel depicts the shape and nuances of human remains found in the historical record, reduced over thousands of years to nothing more than a stain in the earth, the remains have been made physical, almost bone like.
