ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Sorrow I, II diptych Clay, ceramic, wood fire 6 x 5 x 3 in, 9 x 5 x 3 in I love using wood fire clay allowing the minerals and glaze to be out of my control, allowing the fire and flames to predict the outcome of the piece. The natural minerals in the clay create an emotional texturing of the surface; capturing the moment in gestures of color and layers. This particular piece was fired twice in a wood fire in order to create the layering and depth I wanted.
