My favorite mediums to work with are steel and concrete. I love how they complement each other. I used re bar in this sculpture because of the great texture it has adding an extra design element to the rusted finish. The concrete absorbs and bleeds the coloring from the rust as it is weathered. I think this gives the piece a history by the gradual changes it takes on through time. The shape of the "Spirit" is fluid and the steel mesh provides texture and movement in the sunlight, casting shadows of the spirit. This sculpture is both modern and rustic modern fine art. Really beautiful in natural garden settings.

Thank you for your interest in my work. My work is inspired by natural design and how it relates to our human social construction and the potential for new social pattern perspectives. I am an artist and a social worker. The combining of these two disciplines has motivated me to explore how patterns develop and what they look like visually and how they are naturally formed. By exploring human social structures, and balance in natural patterns I find similarities in how the connected areas in patterns create strength and beauty in nature, and within our own human communities.
