Artist Statement “When the paint is dry my work is just beginning”. The thought that paint could be capable of independence from the canvas has been the driving force behind my art practice. It led to my process of creating paintings on plastic waiting for the paint to dry before I remove it. The unsupported material has an inherent flexibility that allows me to investigate my interest in textile, collage, and sculptural techniques. Through cutting, layering, moulding, weaving, and gluing, each creation is the result of many hours of meticulous and detailed work. An artist since childhood, Julee holds a BFA (Sculpture and Painting) from Curtin University, Perth. She is also the author of the book Sculptural Secrets for Mosaic (Schiffer Publishing Ltd, USA). Her works can be found in collections, both public and private, worldwide.
