Born in Jackson, Wy. USA to Margaret E. and Grant O. Hagen the middle of three children. Jackson is a mountain town nestled in a valley created by the Teton fault. The borders of Teton and Yellowstone National Parks are only a stone's throw away. My parents were both devoted to the arts. My father was a respected wildlife artist and my mother was a musician and teacher. I grew up with the wilds of Wyoming at my door step, and in my father's studio which was built onto the house. So, with the sounds of my mother practicing and the smell of mineral spirits and paint wafting through the house it was only a matter of time before I would try my hand at the arts as well. Before I did, however, I had an athletic career on the US Biathlon team spanning 15 years that included 9 world championship and 3 olympic teams. So, the combination of my athletics and the wildlife that surrounds my home have supplied ample inspiration for my sculpture.
