The Dancer Sculpture

There was a small tree on the bluff above the Pacific Ocean. We watched it grow year after year always swaying gracefully in the summer breezes. A massive storm severely damaged it. I salvaged what was left of the stump and the two limbs. It sat on my shelf for a year. One day I saw the story and carved it into the dancer, as a memorial to the beauty and struggle of a dancer. The flowing colors in the wood are the the movements and rhythm within the dancer. The twisted parts are the dancer's body are the extreme effort to portray the story of the music. Now you can experience the last dance before the evil jealous storm tried to destroy its mesmerizing swaying in the ocean breeze.
