About The Artwork

If one ever has had the experience of sitting alone in the woods...listening for rustling, the wind moving thru the branches, the occasional popping or cracking of wildlife moving around...you probably have started to feel that you are amongst another world...a feeling that everything in this particular world has a spiritual connection with all plants and animals...no matter their physical size. And perhaps in a higher world, trees almost seem to be deemed to be the keepers of these sacred areas... This piece is formed using stiff aluminum mesh, then layers of paper mache are applied...once dry, the piece is then hand sanded and an oil base primer is applied and final coats of enamel base paints are applied, with a clear coat application after that. The base is wood and stained. Commissions always welcomed.

Born in a town along the Ohio River in Ohio...from there, my family moved to Arizona...there started my love of powerful color and strong shapes. Back in Ohio, I continue my love of sculpture and the study of positive and negative space in nature. I have done pieces in Indiana limestone, paper mache’, and bronze. ARTIST’S STATEMENT... My work involves developing sculptural pieces that incorporate texture and organic masses. I strive to create shapes that have the power to move the viewer emotionally and visually. Living in a high-tech society such as ours...it is sometimes difficult for us as a peoples to maintain a spiritual connectiveness with our beginnings...working in sculpture gives me an opportunity to explore forms that have a relevance to our surroundings. Past cultures have contributed so much visually and spiritually...we must continue that journey.
