For over 25 years, artist Esben Horn has been running the exclusive model-making company 10 Tons (), which has delivered high-end and award-winning zoological and paleontological models to museums worldwide. In 2023, he took those skills to the next level by introducing his artistic project, Studio MEGATON. Studio MEGATON draws on the extensive resources of skills and experience. Still, it applies them to a more playful work process that results in sculptural objects combining the beauty and wonder of nature and art. Made from layer upon layer of sculpting and finishing, these objects showcase the highest quality of model-making you will find anywhere and reflect an intriguing tension between biological reality and aesthetic imagination. The objects express Horn's lifelong fascination with nature's many forms, materials and textures at the same time as they connect with a contemporary rediscovery of nature in art and culture. As such, the objects embody a love for nature in the context of the Anthropocene, where human civilisation's processes threaten aspects of nature with extinction. Every object is handmade and unique.
