If you love books and animals, you’ll want to add to your bookshelf or table top collection an artwork from this Animal Tales series.

In the ANIMAL TALES series, I create hand drawn, kiln-fired paintings on glass of animals and attach them to manipulated books; the titles of which are specifically chosen to the animal either in personality or in subject matter.

In Richard Harding Davis’ 1904 book THE LION AND THE UNICORN, a tarnished British Royal Crest hangs above the entrance of the Queens florist shop. This duo observes and overhears all of the goings on in the flats upstairs.
Just imagine the stories these two could tell.

Mini pearls and gold balls adorn this fanciful piece.

About The Artwork

The Animal Tales Series of artworks are considered "Book Art/sculpture" in which books are transformed into three dimensional artworks which often include hand painted glass and other materials. Mini pearls and gold balls adorn this fanciful piece. SHIPPING NOTE: This piece will be shipped in a Double Box arrangement {BOX INSIDE OF A BOX} in which the inside box holds the bubble-wrapped artwork securely inside and the outside box is double or triple walled with biodegradable (bagged)foam peanuts securely surrounding the inside box. This method is very protective for the Artwork and saves on the cost of shipping a crate. HOWEVER, if the customer requests a crate be used, the shipping weight/cost to the collector will increase from 7.5 to 24 lbs.

This Saatchi site is linked with : https://www.schriebersmith.com Schrieber-Smith is a multidisciplinary artist whose processes have evolved full-circle from glass, to mixed media assemblage, to painting, and now back to glass. Schrieber-Smith produces work in themed series such as the Paper-Doll series, the Neo-Mythology Series, the Working Women of the World series, the Glass Menagerie Series, the Glasscape Series and most recently the Animal Tales Series. The Glass Menagerie series began in May 2013, when she married her assemblage, painting and glass skills resulting in a whole new sculptural direction with open-ended imagery and mystery. The Animal Tales series couples her love of animals with her love of stories. Once again repurposing materials…this time books. The books are chosen to compliment the animal portrait. The portraits are a combination of glass painting and reverse painting on glass. The books are manipulated and adorned to compliment the painting which becomes affixed to the book. It is her intention for the artworks from both the Glass Menagerie Series and the Animal Tales Series to give new purpose and new meaning to the debris of our civilization. When not in the studio or in the classroom, Schrieber-Smith explores the world. Her extensive travel experiences in Europe, South America and Asia are an ongoing influence in both her artwork and her teaching. In 2016, Schrieber-Smith was honored by her Alma Mater with an induction into the Fine Arts Hall of Fame. Schrieber-Smith has works are in public and private collections both nationally and internationally. http://saatchiart.com/schrieber-smith http://www.schriebersmith.com
