About The Artwork

"In the basement of her subconscious". Sculpture. Man-made material, packaging from a set of cosmetic, old paper and acrylic on the artist panel. Why should Artist Experiment? William Blake said, “The true method of knowledge is Experiment“. We experiment to learn about our materials and our tools. The artist finds their own techniques by experimenting. By experimenting we develop the skills to create unusual shapes and colors and learn how to get the most from our materials. There is an almost infinite amount of art material being developed all the time. Material combinations that haven’t been used before. This is the joy of being an artist. The capacity for experimentation is almost endless, and it is what keeps us growing. I create my sculptures not only from clay, but also from materials that are literally at hand - old newspapers, plastic packaging, synthetic substance, old wood. I really like the opportunity to see a completely different beauty in these most ordinary things.

Contemporary Austrian artist of Russian origin, Elena Vostryakova works with themes such as beauty, femininity, movement, the environment and the power of nature. She embodies her ideas through painting, collages of old painted paper and found objects, clay sculptures. As the daughter of an artist but self-taught, she seeks spontaneous, intuitive work, free from the intrusion of criticism and control. Her works are characterized by expressive lines and shapes, influenced by different cultures, and the combination of figurative and abstract elements. Elena always pays homage to her muse, Creative Wise Nature, by mixing shapes and materials and finding new uses for them. Her greatest achievements in art have come from a source of intuition and self-education, guided by inspirations from the natural world.
