"Thinker" Sculpture

The pictorial mastery of Vahram Hovakimyan encompasses a number of media and modes of expression. In his graphics, Vahram Hovakimyan's dexterity of line flows into linear-based imagery, human and other forms and sometimes their settings. The unfurlment of the artist's line follows the rhythms of Nature, growth, expansion and revelation, skillfully measured and cadenced; while his sculpture is created in several dimensions and exists on multiple planes with both immediate and transcendent overtones. Vahram Hovakimyan’s artistic vision is, at once, direct and nuanced, implicit and suggestive. Though the artist's conception is substantialized, viewers can interpret and elaborate from their own impressions. This artistic production is motivated from personal, national and universal inspirations, historical and legendary themes and spontaneous incentives. It is remarkable for its superb artistry and realization of openness to sharing the artist's external experiences and intuitive perceptions with the viewer. Sculptor Vahram Hovakimyan was born in Lori, Armenia. He graduated from the P. Therlemezian Art School in 1969 and Yerevan Theatre and Fine Art Institute in 1975. Vahram has been a member of Painters Association of the USSR since 1984, and a member of the UNESCO Professional Artists’ Union since 1995. His works are found in many museums and private collections in Yerevan, Moscow, St. Petersburg, Vilnius, Prague, Oslo, Warsaw, Toronto, Boston, New York, Los Angeles, Andover, Philadelphia, Paris, Ravenna, Nicosia and Athens.
