Time Stretches 2018 Sculpture

Through my art practice, I investigate what it means to inhabit the human body. My figurative forms allow for the exploration of presence and the examination of self. In more recent works I explore migratory settlement, integration, and hybridity, where identities and cultures merge, forming a unique ‘third’. Through the use of paper clays, offering both strength and delicacy, I sometimes add textiles post-firing, further layering narrative. These concepts underpin my work and ways in which the creative process gives expression to ideas, with inspiration stemming from the Nuremberg artists, Fortunio Liceti, Sebastian Munster, and Goya’s etchings.
