About The Artwork

White relief, painted paper clay on a plain canvas base, captured in a white wooden frame. This work is inspired by time. I see an impression of a flow pattern around 9 stones, carved out of rock by millions of years of erosion. Motion frozen in time. A gentle reminder that even the simplest rock is the result of billions of years of geological processes. The edge was finished in such a way that the base of the artwork resembles a solid plate of chalkstone, cut out of a rock in one piece and fitted on the canvas. The work comes to life in grazing light, when the shadows of the paper shapes amplify the pattern. Dimensions are including the frame. The work is equipped with hanging hardware (steel wire). The work is not heavy, just 7 kilograms.

Shipping & Returns

Delivery Time:Typically 5-7 business days for domestic shipments, 10-14 business days for international shipments.

My work focuses on sculpted patterns. It's a human instinct to look for patterns in anything we see. Being able to recognize patterns is what gave humans their evolutionary edge over animals. Patterns make us feel comfortable. I like my work to be forceful and touchable, by giving it an extra dimension, height. The height also creates shadows which emphasizes the pattern while at other times, depending on the angle of the light, breaking it. The color of my work is usually white. White is a serene color that doesn't distract from the pattern while providing contrast for the shadows. Main theme in my work is motion but I also like to experiment with whatever inspires me, e.g. nature and geometric forms. My material of choice is paper mache. Like clay it can be molded in almost any form. But unlike clay it's light and strong, allowing it to be used in large, hanging wall pieces. The low weight, texture and smell of the material also make it very enjoyable to work with.
