It exposes us as our own worst enemy. We are saddened to see Mary seated in her helpless beauty and innocence. Christ’s body is carved beautifully and touches us because of its incredible sensitivity to human form in its ultimate state, death. We can only view as spectators a final farewell to a delicate soul and a symbolic figure, which carries the weight of mankind and mankind’s losses.
