Painter, sculptor and designer. Paola Romano was born in Monterotondo (Rome) on September 7th 1951. She studied in Rome, where she lives and works until 2011. In 2012 she opens a fascinating workshop-showroom in the ancient village of his hometown. After completing her studies at Rome Academy of Fine Arts, in 2000 she begins a kind of informal painting dominate by the use of matter. We are facing the birth of a nwe Paola Romano’s identity, both artistic and personal. Her works will be found, since the beginning of production, in prestigious art collections, both public and private. Among her most famous works, the “Moon” series stands out, which dominated the sky in Via Margutta in Rome, the “Planimetries” series, the “Plastic” series, the “Zoom” series, the series of fresco works, the highly appreciated bronze sculptures and the “Monochromes” series. Paola Roano is affirming herself in the Italian and international artistic panorama. It is possible to admire Paola Romano’s works, just to name a few, in the permanent exhibitions of the Magna Carta Foundation in Rome, as well as in the Urban Rooms in the Vatican City. Temporary exhibitions include those at the Museum of Musical Instruments in Rome, at the 53rd Venice Art Biennale, at the Monumental Complex of Saint Andrews at Quirinale in Rome and at the Vittoriano Museum in Rome. In Hong Kong, moreover, she exhibited her works at the Cultural Center of the Opera House as part of an event organized to enhance Italian talent. Paola Romano’s works have also been chosen to prepare cinematographic film scenes directed by famous Italian directors, such as Avati and Verdone. Highly recognized Italian art critics such as Claudio Strinati, Giuseppe di Giacomo and Vittorio Sgarbi have written about her, highlighting her expressive power far from conceptualism. Paola Romano’s art is clearly dynamic, gestual and highly kinetic. Giuseppe di Giacomo states that “for Romano painting means to enter matter and colour by exploring all the possibilities and giving birth to the movement”. Paola Romano’s art is considered by Vittorio Sgarbi “paradoxically as an anti-conceptualism”. Paola Romano “appreciated by many worlds continues to create a moon for each of them” says Giovanni Puglisi. For Claudio Strinati “the unstoppable flow of inspiration is the prime mover of everything the artist faces” and for Andrea Romoli Barberini “the meaning of these works is all included in the experience that generates them”.
