ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Installation made up of 6 individual wall sculptures. With a texture is wood-grain inspired this set is part of my series Woodcuts. The modeling is created by hand with a cellulose paste on wooden supports. Once dry, the model is impregnated with epoxy resin to make it harder and resistant. The entire front surface of the squares is covered with 1000/1000 real silver leaf, chemically oxidized to obtain warm tones and shades ranging from light golden to reddish brown and blue-green in the darker spots. The oxidation is always different and makes each work a unique and original piece. The side edges are gilded with imitation gold leaf once again oxidized. Finally a layer of satin varnish protects the bas-reliefs from future oxidations, dust and UV rays. Dimensions of each panel: 14 x 14 x 1.5 cm 5 1/2 x 5 1/2 x 1/2 inches The set can be arranged at your leisure, together or separated according to your decorative requirements. My work is deeply influenced by nature, mostly wavy, abstract forms based on what I see on wood, bark, vegetables, animal or a rock formation. I focus on a particular organic texture and I bring it in the circumscripted space of an artwork. My wall reliefs with their three-dimensionality, can be observed from multiple angles and different kinds of lighting will have different impacts on the artwork. The physical textures create patterns of variation that stimulate the sense of sight and touch. I like to create patina on metal finishes since the oxydation is always unpredictable, different and unique. I collaborate with collectors, art consultants and interior designers, creating bespoke pieces of art custom designed for each project.
