ABOUT THE ARTWORK
This artwork has been sold but I can create a bespoke piece with the same style/dimensions. I invite you to visit my gallery to find many other pieces available by commission. This large horizontal gilded wall sculpture is part of my new collection wood-grain inspired and oxydized. On this artwork I opted for a slight oxidation, in order to obtain a very pale gold shade. The relief is molded with cellulose on a wooden support. Once dry, the modeling is resin impregnated and thoroughly gilded with 1000/1000 genuine silver leaf. Lastly the leaf was chemically oxidized to obtain warm tones and shades, from a light golden to a reddish brown and blue-green in the darkest spots. The patina is always different and gives uniqueness and warmth to each work. A final satin varnish protects the surface of the artwork and preserves it from further oxidation. My work is deeply influenced by nature, mostly wavy, abstract forms based on what I see on wood, bark, vegetables, animal or a rock formation. I focus on a particular organic texture and I bring it in the circumscripted space of an artwork. My wall reliefs with their three-dimensionality, can be observed from multiple angles and different kinds of lighting will have different impacts on the artwork. The physical textures create patterns of variation that stimulate the sense of sight and touch. I like to create patina on metal finishes since the oxydation is always unpredictable, different and unique. I collaborate with collectors, art consultants and interior designers, creating bespoke pieces of art custom designed for each project.
