Yesterday's tears was created through a trying time as a reminder to let adversity become something beautiful and to leave those tears in yesterday. The pieces of individual glass are in the shape of tear drops and they are structured in the shape of a tear drop. The colours and texture of the glass convey the message of new life, calm and movement to inspire forward movement despite the adversity. The pieces are also cut at varying angles to give contrast to the texture on the different pieces of glass which also compliments the reflections of light.

"Creating is a part of me. I have always found myself creating something interesting from whatever was at hand and I still enjoy the process of creating something from nothing. I studied graphic design and web development and design in Johannesburg. Later, I moved to Cape Town where I worked as a freelance graphic and web designer. I began learning stained glass a while later as I have always loved working with my hands and making beautiful things in glass seemed appealing. I fell in love with the art. At the end of 2013, I decided to dedicate more time to my love of art and I started creating, experimenting and learning more. Stained glass is often associated with windows, doors and lamps but I see so much more to it. The artworks I create are designed to show just that. My designs allow the work to be placed anywhere. There are no restrictions. The light that finds its way all around the artwork compliments it, rather than defines it. Because light in a room changes throughout the day and electric lights are turned on at night, the angle, type and amount of light that surrounds the artwork gives it a different face. This makes each piece exciting and new. It can always be appreciated. The challenge of using stained glass to create all my imagination can throw at it, is so much fun and so rewarding!" - Angela Pratten
