Ying and Yang Koi Sculpture

The "Ying and Yang” panel was created to rouse a sense of harmony with opposing forces and be on display hanging from a Tori Gate in an Asian garden. Two types of textured glass to illustrate clear water in inner circle of fish and weedy water on the outside of the circle. Clear iridescent and colored glass make bubbles which create interest. The colors of the koi, according Asian lore, represent different attributes of a man (blue, gray, white) and a woman (orange, red, white). The bodies of the koi appear to come to life in the light with iridescent blue, mottled yellow, streaky red, orange, and white glass. The koi’s eyes which are made with beveled black Czech glass beads seem to sparkle in the light. Displayed in reclaimed stained yellow pine frame included in the sale.
