I am an architect making ceramics. When I started in ceramics I soon realized that it is the surface which makes ceramics special, form can be made with anything these days. Ceramic glazes can have an amazing depth and livelines. I started specializing in glazing and now I experiment endlessly with developing, testing and combining different glazes. Meanwhile I was always very into furniture design, and soon I had the idea of making tile tables. A bit of a forgotten genre, but big in the fifties and sixties. Besides tile tables I make tile panels and small ceramic objects. (Which I sell on Saatchi Art, for tables see my Instagram account!) My style is the result of my technique of applying glazes with a sliptrailer, which results in lively lines. Often there is a grid underlying. A love of pattern and colour runs through all my designs. My inspiration comes from the urban environment, but also from textiles and nature.
