This is a slipcasted ceramic object, intended to hang on the wall. For me these small objects are a nice way to explore making patterns with glazes.
The backside of this object is unglazed. As you can see the form is hollow so it will be easy to hang.

I am an architect making ceramics. When I started in ceramics I soon realized that it is the surface which makes ceramics special, form can be made with anything these days. Ceramic glazes can have an amazing depth and livelines. I started specializing in glazing and now I experiment endlessly with developing, testing and combining different glazes. Meanwhile I was always very into furniture design, and soon I had the idea of making tile tables. A bit of a forgotten genre, but big in the fifties and sixties. Besides tile tables I make tile panels and small ceramic objects. (Which I sell on Saatchi Art, for tables see my Instagram account!) My style is the result of my technique of applying glazes with a sliptrailer, which results in lively lines. Often there is a grid underlying. A love of pattern and colour runs through all my designs. My inspiration comes from the urban environment, but also from textiles and nature. My studio is in the old centre of Haarlem, the Netherlands. You are welcome.
