don't push me cos i'm close to the edge Sculpture

Music, specifically Pop Music plays a pivotal part in my creative process. I hone in on both the lyrics and movement of the words as they are played out in a song visualizing shape and form, presenting a back and forth dialogue between objects. My primary medium is porcelain, which allows me to work organically, adding or removing clay during the building process. I finished this piece by firing it in a Cone 10 reduction firing and sandblasted the glazed surface which not only adds design and texture but creates a visual partnership throughout the piece. The inspiration for this piece came almost instantly; I was sitting in my car under an overpass, seeking refuge from a hailstorm, grand master flash was on the radio, having just escaped tremendous noise from overhead, the words and music were quiet, poignant and struck a chord. I wrote them down, waited out the storm and went home immediately to draw it out. this is one of the times where the song and condition spoke first Thrown and Altered Porcelain, Cone 10 Reduction Fired, Sandblasted Surface with Wood Shelf
