Music, specifically Pop Music plays a pivotal part in my creative process. I hone in on both the lyrics and movement of the words as they are played out in a song visualizing shape and form, presenting a back and forth dialogue between objects. My primary medium is porcelain, which allows me to work organically, adding or removing clay during the building process. I fired this piece in a cone 10 reduction kiln and then sandblasted the glazed surfaces which not only adds design and texture but creates a visual partnership between the pieces. Inspired by the push pull conflict I wanted to play around with sandblasted areas rather than rely on the inner forms curves.
