These works of art are from my father. He was an carpenter who worked in the construction industry as well as a furniture maker, which earned him not only a high level of craftsmanship but also a wide-ranging knowledge of native and foreign methods of working with veneer. These two attributes supported his creativity in doing sketches to realising the finished picture. His primary interest concerned the laminations and varying colours of the wood. The initial idea was often determined by factors of growth and structure of the veneer, which ineritably covered the intarsia art. Due to the timeless quality that wood offers in combination with lifestyles, it is not surprising to find intarsia works of art in domestic environments.
