This is a 27 X 35-inch wire wall sculpture of a nude female – back view. It is made out of hardened steel wire (about 4mm thick) that I bend by hand and weld, then powder coat gloss black* with an extremely durable, weather resistant material that makes it suitable for outdoor installation. The sculpture is easily installed temporarily on finishing nails or permanently on wall anchors according to instructions I provide. The piece is signed with a thinner wire. I make wire wall sculptures for public, commercial, and residential locations. The wire pieces are the final step in a simplification process that starts with a photograph or group of photographs. I make and remake a digital line drawing to emphasize only the essence and feel of the subject, then, like the poet who reviews every word, I re-examine every turn and curve as I bend the wire into a sculpture. The final installation, a solid line in space in front of a moving shadow, has scale enough to suit a large wall without dominating the room. My work has been purchased by collectors from all over the world. *Other colors are available for a set-up charge of $100. Email me for details. * The sculpture is also available in a smaller size (15 X 24 inches) made with a thinner wire (12 gauge which is 3 mm thick).

Bart designs and builds both large and small custom wirewall art using 9 or 12 gauge annealed steel wire. He welds his wall sculptures for strength and stability and has them powder coated with a UV protective covering for endurance. Bart, originally from the Netherlands, graduated from Boston University and attended classes at the NYU, New School for Social Research. Bart’s mediums as an artist have included photography, silk-screen, lithography, acrylics, oils, clay and stained glass. After seeing an exhibit of Alexander Calder’s wire art at the Whitney Museum in NYC., wire became his new medium of choice Bart’s art style is figurative. He says this style helps him to express what’s most important in life, the simplest things, things we cherish. Like holding someone’s hand, taking a bath, watching people at work or kids at play, the beauty of the human figure or the things we enjoyed in our youth now can become our joy. Wire sculptures pictured here are powder coated gloss black. They are also available in color, slightly larger or smaller, with minor changes, using the same drawing as a guide. Inquire for details.
