Carved in old growth cedar this piece was one of my first abstracts. The piece of wood had this natural fold and two limbs that looked like arms. I carved the piece with a mallet, chisels and gouges to form a nude form that flows from the work of art that mother nature started.

I'm a fourth generation woodcarver, who lets the work flow out of what the wood is already saying. By following the grain and natural patterns of the wood the human form flows into the piece. My father, a sign painter by trade, carved caricature pieces and later relief wood carved signs. I started out doing relief carving, realism pieces, and now abstracts. My methods and skills were learned watching my father. Pricing for my work is negotiable. Commissioned work is available.
