In the serene confines of a studio, nestled near the foothills at the base of the Rocky Mountains in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, Ashley is immersed in a perpetual fascination with the surrounding natural landscapes. Having transplanted from Ontario and the east coast over 15 years ago, the artist's journey in Calgary commenced with a transformative moment—gazing upon the distant mountains and harboring the hope that the initial wonder for such a majestic landscape would remain unabated. Remarkably, it has not waned in the slightest.

These paintings, a heartfelt homage to the formidable indifference of the mountains and an irresistible allure to the sea, encapsulate both the captivating and tumultuously beautiful aspects of these natural wonders. Mirroring the dichotomy of fierce storms and serene tranquility, each piece is crafted with a foundation of thick texture—layers upon layers, a symphony of colors so rich that it transcends the confines of our three-dimensional reality. The purpose is clear: to immerse the observer, even if just for a fleeting moment, in the compelling depth of the artwork.
