Ashley Moss

Having spent the bulk of my career as a fashion designer in New York, I approach each painting as a textile of sorts: rich in color, pattern, hand feel, and depth. Raised in Carmel, CA, I was struck by the stunning nature that impacted my youth and now, many years later, I process the effects of such natural splendor through my creative work. Painting is the vehicle by which I ponder the world --and also how I attempt to harmonize the musings of my mind. Nature plays a big role in this.
It is via the canvas that I explore pattern, line, and shape, almost like a textile artist might, hinting at my past as a clothing designer. I adore the layering of ornament and pattern -- and as such, it is typically present in my work.
My goal is to experience serenity while I paint and hopefully pass that on to the viewer.
I currently split my time between Carmel, CA and Oxford, MS.
