By the age of 18, Asem Kali had learned Japanese and spent some time living in Tokyo, one of the most authentic centers in the art world. Ultramodern city, its dynamic streets, and eccentric youth have influenced the young girl.
Japanese surrealism is cute but slightly intimidating. Artist's works catch the eye with tenderness and fragility of a depicted subject, but upon a close examination, the viewer encounters the depth and irrationality of human feelings.
