Barbara Nessim, a New York City native, is an internationally known artist and illustrator.
A pioneer in digital art, Barbara began to integrate the use of the computer to create her work as early as 1980. She continues to use the computer as a tool in making artwork, but also enjoys drawing in her numerous sketchbooks. Barbara recently finished several large-scale digital paintings, commissioned for the lobby of a new residential building in Rockefeller Center Plaza.
Barbara received her art training at Pratt Institute (1956-60) in the Department
of Illustration and Fine Art. Her paintings and drawings are in public and private collections and have been shown in museums and galleries worldwide. Nessim's work is in the permanent collection of The Smithsonian Institute, Lunds Kunsthal, Lund, Sweden and the Szepmuveszeti Museum in Budapest. Nessim's work has been shown in The Kunst Museum in Dusseldorf and The Louvre in Paris. Over the past 30 years, Nessim's art has appeared on the covers of major publications including Time, Rolling Stone, and Germany's Frankfurter Allgemeine. In 2003 she had a solo exhibition at bitforms gallery in Chelsea. ,
