Bela Avelar

Bela Avelar was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in 1996 and currently lives and works there. She is a visual artist and clinical psychologist.

Her work is a quest for self-exploration of the depths of nature, diving into crevices, holes, and wounds, both internal and external. By exploring mental conflicts echoing in the body, her art reflects an attempt to purge them, navigating through her own traumas, reflections, and natural complexities. With an autobiographical and multifaceted approach, her artistic expression traverses different languages ​​such as photography, painting, sculpture, and writing, revealing an intimate journey of discovery and transformation.

In addition to her participation in collective exhibitions at Galpão Ladeira das Artes (2022) and Na lata Botafogo (2023), Bela also contributed to the anthology of the Off Flip award (2023) in the poetry genre.
