Hans-Juergen Krahtz

Hans Krahtz is a freelance photographer living and working in Düsseldorf (Germany) and part-time in the USA. Portraiture, fine-art and documentary photography are his core themes. Currently he works mainly on personal long-term projects, and depending on the theme he works on commissioned projects.

He started at the time of the analog photography. Friends who worked as professional photographers have thaught him how to take pleasing photos and what extraordinary results require. Later he attended workshops with well-known photographers, and he has studied the photography aesthetic of the “Becher School” (*).

At first he did a lot portraiture, thereafter city- and landscapes in Europe and USA, and product- and fashion photos for advertising. In Africa, far away from the tourism, he documented the lives of the people in their environment and the nature. His works have been published in international magazines (GEO, National Geographic, Stern...), and later in several online publications. His portraits and landscape photos received awards at international photo competitions and has been featured in print and online publications in the USA and in Europe. He puts emphasis on the visual communication and the aesthetics in his works.
