Benno Kollegger

Like ancient people who would paint their hands and press them onto the walls of caves, I am using that ritual to make a harmonious link between my surroundings and myself on canvasses. Painting for me is to communicate with the physical form in another sense or time. The content of my work draws on my experiences of myth, religion, and ritual. I have worked in many directions over the years and the human figure became the main subject on my canvas. I see nude human bodies as the ultimate creation on this planet. Observing them, I experience their expression of inner energy and sensitivity, which is unique only to that individual. They become a starting point to communicate with my consciousness of painting and I let inspiration, passion, and risk guide me. Doing so takes me to the interior world of silent expression and another dimension not often experienced in daily life.
