Erwin Hollecker

Over a period of 12 years, during which I lived and worked in the Dominican Republic, I took numerous photographs. Many of these images don't conform to the cliché of sun, sand, and sea. They focus on the everyday lives of the people, away from the tourist areas. Afterward, I edited the photographs to emphasize the incredible variety of colors in the Caribbean, as well as the strong contrasts. The sun in the Caribbean is three times more intense than, for example, in New York. Ultimately, I abstracted the images and created a comic book-like style.

I actually come from the logistics field. I have a Master's degree in Logistics and Transportation. Within that framework, I worked for many years as a buyer for a large German airline. In 2012, I changed industries. I became a copywriter and ghostwriter. At the same time, I moved to the Dominican Republic. That's where I started taking photographs. However, I've been drawing and painting my whole life.
