"Out of the Blue--Water Is Life" a series of sculptural works demonstrate my commitment to standing with indigenous protectors of Standing Rock until the threat to their sacred sites has ceased. We all need water to live; we need to find fail proof fracking methodologies. We as citizens of the earth are entitled to healthy,
clean water.
In general, the work is somewhat of a metaphoric translation of lyrical qualities found in music and in nature. Aspects of my work are akin to that of riffs in jazz or the solemnity of a fugue. Impulses of
the Baroque occur and reoccur in the mark making and
saturated palette.
Within this context I enjoy extending the boundaries of two dimensional space. Always the work is concerned about spatial relationships-- shapes that shape the way we move and mold the way we see. Color selection is always a matter of decision. Color is like choosing a word in a poem. It must resonate within me, evoke emotion and strike a chord.
