Bozena Krol Legowska

Bozena Krol Legowska: A native of Zakopane, Poland, a small town at the foot of the Tatra mountains. The daughter of a noted wood sculptor and poet father who instilled in her a passion for and appreciation of the fine arts, and ever since shaping her artistic path and life. Later she would attend art school where she earned a degree with a major in textile design. In the following years she also earned a degree in public relations and marketing.
Beginning in the late 1990s she dedicated herself to glass painting, an ancient technique native to her region; she tackled this art form giving it a modern twist.
All the while she had this recurring idea to challenge stone as a medium, trying to uncover within this hard material the hidden sinuous and spontaneous forms unleashed by a woman’s hands. In 2001, during a vacation in Italy this dream became a reality as she began her unending quest with sculpture. In 2003 the artist relocated to Saturnia.
Later came the desire for change, a rebellion that provided an outlet for the voice of dissent. And so it was that the artist devoted herself to recycled materials, old PC and TV monitors which transform in a graphic series, illuminated installations that speak of modern society in an iron...
