Abraham Herens

I was born (23-06-1963) in Schoonhoven, a small town on the river "De Lek" in the Netherlands, this city is known as a silver city, for centuries. My grandfather and father had a housepainting business,they worked in the restoration of churches and other monuments. For example, they made signsmourning with goldleaf and silverleaf, as a child i was often with them in the workplace.
From 1983 to 1985 i studied in the evening at the Academy of Free Art Rotterdam, with the discipline nude model drawing.
From 1980 to 1986 i worked in a paint factory,where i was trained as a professional colormixer.
From 1987 to 1992 i studied at the Royal Academy of Art at The Hague (Den Haag/South Holland), and since then i have been working as a painter.
In 2008 i met my current wife "Kristin", we got married in December 2009, and our daughter was born February 14 2010.
We live and work in the old historic center of Schoonhoven.
