Brent Stewart

Brent Stewart is an established contemporary artist who has shown internationally including London, Paris, Tokyo, Los Angeles and New York and has been reviewed by several publications including the NY Times, Interview Magazine and Vice. He has worked with Nike, agnes b, and Harmony Korine. He received his MFA from London's Goldsmith College. He has had films in the Sundance and Cannes festivals.

This collection of paintings is a "post-romantic", expressive conflux of apocalyptic eruptions with cosmic foreshadowing of a time between worlds, a meteor shower during the time of a soft sunset, the heat of volcanic ash brazed on temple walls of painted Peacocks during the last embrace of Pompeii; an impossible, blushing moment of chaos and beauty.

These works are made with gestures of oil paint with the haptic texture of wood ash on oil rag paper as a nod towards the 19th century British painter John Martin's apocalyptic painting "The Deluge (1834)" that influenced the artist when visiting the Ya...
