Short Bio - Mohamed Hamissou Issa was born in 1973 in Lome, Togo his parents having settled there from Nikki Baatombou (Bariba), Northern Benin years earlier. He learned how to create jewelry in Togo while he developed an early childhood love for the creative arts especially designing and painting.
This love for the works of arts in designing and painting led him, at age 18, to the late famous Togolese artist, textile and graphic designer screen printer, Gbledo Comlan. It was there, under the careful tutorage of Mr. Gbledo, that Mohamed acquired the skills to become a textile designer.
Today, many of Mohamed’s textile designs can be found printed or weaved into a variety of African textiles and sold all over the world.
Mohamed has been living in Atlanta, Georgia since October 2001 with his family.
His textile design background heavily influences his current work of art. Mohamed's long-term goal is to become a full-time visual art researcher and developer. He recently changed his name to Bre Vardart. His new last name came from his unique style of painting titled " Vard Art". Which is the combination of sculpting, crafting and painting.
