TORO MANIFEST
People ask me why bull? And what do you want to express in your paintings?
The painting is as rough as the animal itself. Free from censorship and politically correct. Not perfect, as flawed as our souls. You see the painting as the basis, the stages of painting, mistakes, coarse smudges of color. I did not repair, I did not refine. I want the people that looks at the painting to feel their basic essence, before they were shaped in the spirit of the time and the influences of our present generation, to touch the very primitive sense that is planted in each of us before we put ourselves under the limitations and adaptations of our society.
We were born as a free spirit. The archaic, primitive elements of our genuine element as human beings are still planted incide us. One has only to release the stifling restraints of life into the environment in which we live today to feel the passion, the desire, the intensity within us - in ourselves.
The bull is an ancient animal, a primitive animal, BEAST. It's posture is firm, steady, determined, moving confidently toward the goal in front of him. He is conquering, territorial, sometimes fighting into tragedy, given to his uncontrollable predecessors.
