Carole Rabe

I am a Massachusetts artist, working primarily in oil from direct observation. I am especially interested in the relationship between interior and exterior spaces. I work from direct observation; I am interested in how the human eye perceives the things around us, and how the hand and the heart work to put the image on canvas. My imagery is personal; I need some connection to my subject matter in order for me to claim it in a painting. The way light reflects on a countertop or hits the side of a chair is the spark that gets the painting started. My paintings are about the relationship between the colors, shapes, and values that are created by the color of light.
