Born and raised in Florence, then moved to Viareggio, by the sea.
I have been working in the fashion industry as a designer since I was in my twenties, and two years ago I began to carve out a space for painting as I was younger.
The underlying theme of all my paintings, from a portrait, to a flower, to an abstract figure, is the aura of elegant and melancholy femininity that I have persistently fixed on my mind and that I try to portray in different subjects. At the same time I try to give the reader, with shapes, colors and harmonic proportions, a strong universal emotional impact. I use mixed acrylic colors sometimes with crayons to mark significant traits.

Carolina Polara is a self-taught italian painter and fashion designer.
Her piece "Protect" is the painting reproduction of the famouse picture taken by American fashion photographer Steven Maisel.
The picture, and also the painting faithfully, portraits an intimate embrace between American singer Madonna and Italian actress Isabella Rossellini, daughter of the neorealist director Roberto Rossellini.
What stands out the most in "Protect" is the intensity of Isabella's look, extremely confidente, almost defying the viewer.
On the contrary, the "pop queen" seems to be Award of the external gaze and we simply see her letting go in the reassuring and comfortable arms of the actress.
The painting immortalizes a moment of affection and tenderness but, at the same time, it also conveys an important message: the women are not portrayed as a object of desire, but instead it is highlighted their indipendence from the external.
