Caterina Rotondo

I am a self-taught artist.
I was born in 1978 and as a child fell in love with drawing. What started as a most loved game evolved quite naturally into a medium where I could truly express myself.
Whilst attending secondary school I focused on humanities and later, at the university of Bologna, studied Philosophy. During all those years in education an underlying passion for drawing and painting had manifested into photography and the visual arts in various genres also.
With time on my hands these last few years the passion to express myself through paint and my need to focus on it became inevitable.
I have practiced with acrylic paint, oil paint, water colours, inks, mixed media on many types of various surfaces.
Creating gives me the opportunity to learn without limits, to try every time different modalities, to perfect tecniques and maybe even discover and invent new ones.
This constant process of improvement and development often leads to unexpected results and pleasant new challenges.
Through my work, I aim to express the constant tension between instinct and rationality that lives within me, whilst searching for an equilibrium in multiplicity.
