Charlie Spencer

Charlie Spencer is a french artist, currently living in the south of France. He worked in communication for 6 years before starting a professional artistic practice.

In 2015, while still a student, he began a series of sculptures called « Terrain Vague ». These sculptures represent twisted football fields with unusual shapes.The lines that usually define the rules and boundaries of football are distorted to create a three-dimensional surface.

In 2016, he and his partner started a company dedicated to communication. They worked with large groups such as Air France, Samsung and Société Générale. Influenced by an entrepreneurial family background, he dives into a money obsession that will impact his mental health and lead him to neglect his artistic practice for a few years.

The isolation of lockdown and mourning led him to rediscover the need to give meaning to his work. He then devoted himself to a near-therapeutic practice of art through experimentations of which he kept the fragments, sorted and numbered. His associate captured them in a photographic collection she called « Fragments ».

He completed his project « Terrain Vague » and posted it under a new pseudonym, Charlie Spencer. This choice is part of his rejection ...
