Cherie Grist

Cherie Grist is a contemporary Abstract Expressionist Artist exploring her place in the world through multi-coloured, geometric, abstract expressionist strokes. Each canvas is a sanctuary where she can hide away from the complexities of modern day life and explore a calmer more peaceful world. She sees all her paintings as self-portraits and her process is automatic from the paint used to the method in which she applies her marks

Cherie was longlisted for the John Moore’s Contemporary Painting Prize and shortlisted for The Bridgemen Studio Awards- Gavin Turks Choice, The Cass Art Prize and The National Open Art prize. She studied Fashion Styling and photography at the University of Arts London before returning home to start her own Art studio space.

Cherie has been a director of Artist studios for the past 15 years and in 2020 co-founded Bold Place CIC a centre for female creative businesses, guidance and workshops.

Her work is in public and private collections worldwide.
