My work is usually (but not always) made with my own handmade watercolor paints (made from raw pigments), on paper, gessoed panels, calfskin, goat skin, and other materials. I also do calligraphy, murals in houses, and lots of other art projects....whatever keeps my attention, and gives me a challenge. My paintings are best viewed close up, in detail, because they are made of tiny brushstrokes and dots, using a renaissance technique called "limning". This technique is still used by botanical painters and scientific illustrators, because it gives such a fine-grained, detailed image. It's my favorite, but not my only painting method.
