I was born in the U.K., but due to having an Australian Mother was lucky enough to have dual citizenship and met my Italian husband in Sydney. I have lived in Tuscany for the last 35 years. As a way of getting my daughter away from the TV I enrolled us both into a watercolour painting course twelve years ago. Since then I haven’t looked back and whenever I can I’m painting. I took up acrylic on canvas with pallet knife less than a year ago having enrolled into a Mary Gilkerson online course on Colour Composition and Light. I love working with a pallet knife although it can be tricky at times. My favourite pastime is going off in my ute to find a scenic spot on our property here in the part of Tuscany known as La Maremma. Once I’ve sketched a thumbnail and notan I go back home and prepare my canvas and colours. Then it’s back out there and three hours pass in a flash. Back home I make the final adjustments. My son is an excellent artist and insists I do everything from life. He won’t let me copy photos. I’ve produced over fifteen canvases in the last five months.
