I rented my studio, K14, in 2021, at the age of seventy. The difference between an artist who dies young and someone like me, putting brush to canvas at three score years and ten, is that I know for sure how short of time I am. It certainly serves to concentrate the mind.

I'm a self-taught artist, apart from Mr.Bennett, in the art room at school, who liked to say that if you rolled a piece of sculpture down a hill, whatever broke off on the way down to the bottom shouldn't have been there in the first place.
