Tomas Loewy Bio:
Tomas Loewy was born in Prague, grew up in Buenos Aires, Cologne, Frankfurt, Munich and New York. Moving to Miami combined those diverse life experiences into a unique visual expression of optimism, creativity, selected spontaneity, paired with skepticism and sometimes dark sarcasm. Based on his international background in journalism, television, film & online ventures, Tomas found a vision molding images with a feel and love for moments, situations, details and human emotions.
Part of this 'just-like-being-there' visual blend comes from the refusal to be content with the comfortable and predictable life most people wish to lead. The right combination of stability and (purposeful) lack thereof became a personal choice: at different times draining, provoking, challenging, depressing, energizing, exhilarating: Always a solid basis for creating unusual images.

TOMAS LOEWY PHOTOGRAPHY: THE SURREAL, THE FICTION, THE SELF.
“I photograph more by visuals than by transcendental meaning” , Tomas Loewy
In his photographs, Tomas Loewy proposes outstanding sights of the human factor transformed into surreal and fictional visions. The key point in his approach to these works is to navigate into the revelation of the image, and into the foresight and the prescience of the visual elements.
Loewy’s photographs challenge notions of traditional photography in which representation sets out as the primal purpose and method. As Susan Sontag affirms, “The painter constructs, the photographer discloses” (On Photography). In that sense, Loewy does not document or register reality but instead, reveals the inner state of things; the transcendent status of human phenomena.
Loewy does not photograph the obvious and the evident; he glimpses into the uncommon and the extraordinary. Prodigies and magical scenes are captured by the artist from his photographic excursions to the Burning Man Festival in Nevada’s Black Rock Desert, which Loewy has attended since 2004.
