Artist Statement

Labeled as a thinker at a young age, most of my work starts with an idea I have conjured up. The ideas can come from images, a specific process I’d like to undertake, or a technique that enables me to experiment. The finished product is usually seen in my mind's eye, although it does not always end up the way I envisioned. That is what I enjoy most about my process, slowly building layers until the final layer reveals the painting's image.

The process I use has evolved over the years, beginning with my street art endeavors with spray paint. As street art was my foundation and spray paint my medium I was constantly experimenting with different ways to apply it. With no one guiding me, and not a lot of information available at the time I was forced to learn through trial and error.

The technique of spray paint is really what defines my art. I am always looking for new ways to apply my style. I have used spray paint to create signs using only type, abstract images using geometric shapes and patterns, portraits, and landscapes to name a few. It is a constantly evolving process that I truly enjoy.
