David Ellis

I am an electrical/ computer engineer and work in a very analytical and structured world. I use drawing to help visualize and make sense of this world. I also use my drawing to step away from pure science and explore the freedom of pure imagination.

I primarily work with graphite and color pencil in my drawings. Since I have an unusual form of color blindness, I cannot see the color yellow, I have a slightly different view of the world. As a result I will include pure yellow in my color drawings, imagining how others would see the final work. By creating what I can only see in my mind adds a sense of intangibility to the piece, even if it physically cannot be seen it does exist.
